Cone of Shame

I do not like the cone of shame either Dug.  Poo.

Yes, my last blog post was on January 19th.  Yes, it is currently February 15th.  I know... major suckage.

I have an explanation... kind of.  I know that excuses don't make up for neglecting something that I committed myself to but it will make me feel better to make a couple excuses, ok?  Go ahead, judge me.

January 19th-January 26th were pretty much pure chaos.  Hubz and I were preparing to leave for our honeymoon in Maui.  Tying up loose ends, packing, shopping, doing laundry, having friends over to watch the Twilight trilogy the night before we left for Maui... ok you don't need to feel sorry for me for that one.  I brought that upon myself.

January 26th-February 3rd we were on our honeymoon in Maui.  So fantastic.  More on this later.

February 3rd-February 6th we visited my family in the always wonderful South Dakota.  We landed in Minneapolis from Maui at about 2 pm on February 3rd... and then left for South Dakota 2 hours later.  That's just how we be.  It was a lovely time to visit with friends and family.  And play with babies.  We want a baby... kind of.

February 7th meant returning to the real world.  Blah.  We also received word that afternoon that Hubz's delightful grandfather, Edner, had very little time left before he went to his eternal home.  It was a long night in a crowded retirement home apartment.

February 8th-9th continued to be long days.  Adjusting back to Minnesota and that whole working thing.  Edner continued to slip away but we were so blessed to be able to spend time with him during his last couple of days.

February 10th at 8:30 am we received word that Edner had passed away in his sleep.  It was devastating but also a relief.  His struggle finished, his celebration in Heaven began.

February 11th-12th was the visitation and funeral.  Emotional but beautiful days.

February 13th the weather became amazing.  We went for a morning walk with Kona coffee (yes. I purchased it in Hawaii. yes. it is amazing. more on this later) and without coats.  I hate coats.  I love no-coat-weather.  Oh, and I baked 3 dozen red velvet cupcakes.  They made me wish everyday was Valentine's Day so I could eat red velvet cupcakes everyday.  Who am I kidding... I would eat them everyday for the rest of my life if I could afford to purchase a larger pair of jeans every month.

February 14th I was surprised with an adorable bouquet of flowers from the Hubz that got delivered to my office.  Good start to the day.  That evening Hubz and I decided to have a somewhat low-key Valentines Day at The Highland Grill.  Monday night at the Highland Grill is curry night and Heather Jansz, aka The Curry Diva, is the chef.  I know Heather through work and was so excited to try her Sri Lankan creations!  It was unique, delicious and really fun.  Not incredibly romantic, but super cute and spunky.  We really enjoyed it.

So that's what's been going on and why I've been absent.  No more though!  I have realized that I have a LOT of things I need to check off of my list so I'm planning when some of them will happen.  Stay tuned for updates--hang in there with me.  I'm still figuring out this whole life blog thing!
